Jurnal Nasional Moderasi Agama (JNMA) is a peer-reviewed, open-access national journal dedicated to the rigorous academic study of religious moderation, socio-religious harmony, interfaith dialogue, and state-religion dynamics within pluralistic societies. Positioned at the intersection of Islamic studies, sociology of religion, public policy, and peace studies, JNMA serves as an authoritative intellectual forum for academics, researchers, and policymakers. The journal aims to contextualize religious teachings to foster tolerance, counter extremism, build social cohesion, and promote moderate religious discourse (wasathiyah) within contemporary national and global frameworks.

Scope and Topics

JNMA invites original empirical research, theoretical studies, policy analyses, and conceptual papers covering various dimensions of religious moderation. Key areas of focus include, but are not limited to:

  • Religious Moderation & Wasathiyah Discourse: Philosophical, theological, and legal (fiqh) foundations of religious moderation, tolerance, and middle-path paradigms in Islam and other traditions.

  • Sociology of Religion & Peace Studies: Social cohesion, interfaith and intra-faith dialogue, conflict resolution, peacebuilding strategies, and multicultural community dynamics.

  • Countering Religious Extremism & Radicalism: Analysis of radical ideologies, deradicalization models, counter-narrative strategies, and digital media dynamics in religious discourse.

  • Religion, State & Public Policy: Religious freedom, constitutional law, state policies on religious harmony, religious education curricula, and national integration.

  • Culture, Local Wisdom & Religion: Interplay between indigenous cultures, local wisdom, and religious practices in maintaining societal harmony.

Publication Frequency

Jurnal Nasional Moderasi Agama (JNMA) is published biannually (2 issues per year: June and December), employing an online-first publication pipeline to facilitate timely peer review and widespread dissemination.

Peer Review Process

To uphold academic integrity and scholarly standards, JNMA applies a double-anonymous peer review protocol. All submitted manuscripts are subjected to an initial desk review by the Editorial Board to assess topical alignment, structural organization, ethical compliance, and originality. Manuscripts meeting preliminary criteria are evaluated by at least two independent expert reviewers. Peer review criteria focus on theoretical depth, methodological soundness, analytical rigor, relevance to religious moderation studies, and contribution to social harmony.
