TAMBORA: Jurnal Riset Multidisiplin is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal dedicated to publishing pioneering research that transcends traditional academic boundaries. Positioned as a premier scholarly forum, the journal serves a global network of researchers, academics, practitioners, and policymakers who engage in cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary inquiries. TAMBORA prioritizes rigorous empirical research, comprehensive theoretical reviews, and innovative applied studies that address complex, multifaceted global challenges. By bridging the natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, humanities, and health sciences, the journal fosters a holistic, comprehensive understanding of how interconnected knowledge can drive sustainable development, technological innovation, and societal transformation.

Scope and Topics

Given its multidisciplinary nature, the journal welcomes high-quality original research articles, critical literature reviews, and case studies that offer significant contributions to, or intersections between, the following thematic areas:

  • Social Sciences & Humanities: Sociology, anthropology, cultural studies, political science, history, law, psychology, and linguistics.

  • Economics, Business & Education: Macro and microeconomics, management, entrepreneurship, pedagogical innovations, curriculum development, and educational technology.

  • Exact & Natural Sciences: Biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, environmental sciences, and earth sciences.

  • Engineering & Information Technology: Civil and mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence (AI), computer science, data analytics, renewable energy, and sustainable infrastructure.

  • Health & Medical Sciences: Public health, nursing, pharmacology, epidemiology, and the socio-economic impacts of healthcare policies.

  • Interdisciplinary & Cross-Sectoral Studies: Climate change mitigation, sustainable development goals (SDGs), bioethics, socio-technical systems, and the intersection of technology and society.

Publication Frequency

To ensure rigorous editorial oversight, thorough peer review, and timely dissemination of expansive multidisciplinary research, TAMBORA is published semi-annually (2 issues per year, typically scheduled for release in June and December). Special thematic issues focusing on urgent global crises (e.g., pandemics, climate change), breakthrough interdisciplinary methodologies, or transformative technological shifts may be commissioned by the Editorial Board.

Peer Review Process

TAMBORA enforces a strict double-blind peer review policy to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity, analytical objectivity, and methodological validity across all disciplines.

  • Initial Desk Evaluation: Every submission undergoes a preliminary screening by the Editor-in-Chief or a relevant Subject Editor to assess thematic alignment, methodological soundness (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods), and structural compliance. Plagiarism screening via Turnitin/iThenticate is strictly executed at this stage, requiring a similarity index below the journal's maximum threshold.

  • Expert Peer Review: Manuscripts passing the desk evaluation are anonymized and assigned to at least two independent international reviewers who are established academic experts in the specific disciplinary or interdisciplinary domain of the submitted research.

  • Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editorial Board renders one of four decisions: Acceptance, Revisions Required (Minor/Major), Resubmit for Review, or Rejection. The final decision rests entirely on the intellectual merit, theoretical rigor, and practical applicability of the work to broad societal and scientific advancement.

Mission Statement: "The mission of TAMBORA is to deconstruct academic silos and catalyze inclusive, evidence-based dialogue across diverse fields of knowledge. Grounded in the philosophy that the world's most pressing challenges—from environmental degradation to socio-economic inequality—cannot be solved through the lens of a single discipline, the journal aims to democratize advanced knowledge by providing an unrestricted, high-impact platform for collaborative scholarly inquiry. Through the promotion of diverse, rigorous, and cross-pollinated methodological approaches, TAMBORA seeks to empower global researchers, inspire multidisciplinary innovation, and shape future-proof, holistic public policies worldwide."
