Islamic Education and Governance Studies (IEGS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access international journal dedicated to publishing pioneering research at the intersection of Islamic educational systems, institutional leadership, public governance, Sharia management, and socio-political policy. Positioned as a premier interdisciplinary scholarly forum, the journal serves academic researchers, educational leaders, public administration experts, Sharia governance specialists, and social policy strategists worldwide. IEGS prioritizes rigorous empirical research, policy impact evaluations, institutional case studies, conceptual pedagogical models, and comparative legal-administrative analyses that examine how Islamic values, educational frameworks, and governance principles shape public administration, institutional integrity, leadership ethics, and community development. By bridging classical Islamic governance principles (Siyasah Shar'iyyah) and pedagogical theories with modern administrative practices, the journal fosters a deep, comprehensive understanding of how value-driven education and transparent governance build resilient, ethical, and sustainable societies.

Scope and Topics
Reflecting its mandate to examine the structural and ethical synergies between Islamic learning institutions and governance systems, the journal welcomes high-quality original research articles, systematic literature reviews, comparative policy studies, and empirical evaluations within the following thematic areas:

Islamic Educational Leadership & Institutional Management: Leadership frameworks in Islamic institutions, strategic planning in madrasahs and Islamic universities, curriculum development, character building (Tarbiyah and Ta'dib), and quality assurance in religious education.

Islamic Public Governance & Administrative Ethics: Concepts of Siyasah Shar'iyyah, administrative accountability, anti-corruption frameworks, ethical leadership, public sector management in Muslim-majority/minority contexts, and civil service integrity.

Sharia Governance & Regulatory Frameworks: Governance models in Islamic social and financial institutions, Sharia supervisory board dynamics, compliance mechanisms, legal policy execution, and institutional transparency.

Social Policy, Philanthropy & Community Governance: Governance of Zakat, Infaq, Sadaqah, and Waqf management bodies, non-profit institutional leadership, social welfare policies, and community empowerment models.

Digital Transformation in Education & Governance: E-governance in Islamic institutions, digital administrative tools, educational technology in Islamic studies, and ethical frameworks for AI adoption in public and educational governance.

Publication Frequency
To ensure rigorous editorial oversight, thorough peer review, and the timely dissemination of multidisciplinary research, IEGS is published semi-annually (2 issues per year, typically scheduled for release in June and December). Special thematic issues focusing on digital governance in Islamic education, modern Waqf institutional reforms, or comparative public administration may be commissioned by the Editorial Board.

Peer Review Process
IEGS enforces a strict double-blind peer review policy to maintain the highest standards of academic integrity, analytical objectivity, and methodological validity across educational, legal, and political science disciplines.

  • Initial Desk Evaluation: Every submission undergoes a preliminary screening by the Editor-in-Chief or a relevant Subject Editor to assess thematic alignment, methodological soundness (qualitative field rigor, quantitative survey validity, textual/conceptual analysis depth, or comparative policy analysis), and structural compliance. Plagiarism screening via Turnitin/iThenticate is strictly executed at this stage, requiring a similarity index below the journal's maximum threshold.
  • Expert Peer Review: Manuscripts passing the desk evaluation are anonymized and assigned to at least two independent international reviewers who are established academic experts, public administration scholars, or senior specialists in Islamic education and governance.
  • Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editorial Board renders one of four decisions: Acceptance, Revisions Required (Minor/Major), Resubmit for Review, or Rejection. The final decision rests entirely on intellectual merit, theoretical/empirical rigor, analytical clarity, and practical institutional or policy impact.
